Revolt Summer Surf Series 2013

RSSS-FULL-POSTER

San Diego, Ca – The Seventh Annual Revolt Summer Surf Series, also known as the RSSS 7.0 is a Non-ASP Domestic Surf Series based in San Diego. The annual Pro Am surfing competition attracts shortboarders, longboarders and stand up paddle surfers of all ages & skillsets, from around the world, to perform in their sport of choice and be recognized for their achievements. There are four separate events with nine separate divisions. Each event attracts between 100 – 125 surfers and tens of thousands of spectators. Daily winners take home trophies, surfboards, cash & great prizes while the points system allows surfers to compete for the overall season win as well. Sponsors’ product make up the legendary swag bags for the top riders in each division.

RSSS 7.0 divisions include Men & Womens Open Pro Am, Juniors, Groms, Longboard and new for this season;  The Smith Optics Grudge Match – Womens & Juniors SUP Surf divisions. The Smith Optics Grudge Match allows surfers to actually call out their surfing rivals, heroes or surf-mates. Surfers will compete mano-a-mano to find out who will take home a 500.00 winner-take-all cash prize.

Last season saw newcomer Brandon Roberts unseat the three-peat champ Eric McHenry, as the #1 top dog in the Men’s Open Pro Am Division. This season the RSSS 7.0 is mixing it up a bit by moving the event to multiple surf breaks for a more diverse competition. The Pro Am surfing events will be held at PB Drive, OB Pier, San Fernando Ct. and the season finale is on the SOUTH SIDE OF CRYSTAL PIER. The City of San Diego only allows one permit a year for this beach break, otherwise the area is a designated swim-only zone year round and completely off limits. This event draws an estimated 75,000 people.

Top sponsors like Red Bull, Alpinestars, Smith Optics and Split USA are making sure all four events are exciting and stacked with top ranked team surfers scheduled for all four events in 2013.

Red Bull Surfing’s Carissa Moore is scheduled to appear on June 22 at PB Drive as well as Alpinestars’ Zane Schweitzer. Red Bull DJ’s will be spinning both on the beach and later at the (notorious) RSSS after parties

Other elements, including a ‘Green’ beach fair, surfboard demo’s, live DJ’s, professional athlete appearances, raffles, giveaways & beach games, add to the family friendly, festival atmosphere. In 2013 we expect to attract over 100,000 people to the combined events.
