HOSSEGOR, France (Thursday, October 12, 2017) – The Quiksilver Pro France has been called ON in great conditions with four-to-six foot waves breaking at La Graviere this morning. Round One of the men’s Quiksilver Pro France starts at 8:30 a.m and both the men’s Round Two and the Roxy Pro France semifinals are on StandBy for a possible start later today.

“The swell’s firing, it’s actually bigger than we expected so we’re obviously underway,,” Travis Logie, WSL Deputy Commissioner said. “Round One is underway and we’ll see how far we can go, Round Two is on Standby and so are the women. The tides are so big here and there’s a lot of swell around so we’ll see how we go through the low tide but right now it’s pumping. We’ve called for the jetski assist to minimize the work and get the boys back in the lineup as fast as possible.”

Former World Champion Adriano De Souza (BRA) will take on Conner Coffin (USA) and Stuart Kennedy (AUS) in Round One, Heat 1 of the Quiksilver Pro France.

Surfline, official forecasters for the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro France, are calling for:

A new, medium size NW swell will build in through Thursday before slowly tapering off on Friday (strongest Thur PM-Fri AM) and fading further into Saturday. Favorable wind looks likely Thursday through Saturday. An even larger swell is likely for Sunday, potentially building as early as Saturday afternoon/evening and fading on Monday.  More W swell is possible for the final two days of the waiting period, Tue-Wed, although local wind may deteriorate.

The Quiksilver and Roxy Pro France will be broadcast LIVE via WorldSurfLeague.com, the WSL app and on Facebook LIVE via the WSL’s Facebook page.  Also check the local listings for coverage on CBS Sports Network in the U.S., Fox Sports in Australia, ESPN in Brazil, Sky NZ in New Zealand, SFR Sports in France and Portugal, Sport TV in Portugal and the EDGEsport Network.
